Community Building

This was an amazing vision that got to be co-created with the community and the Wilkinson Public Library in Telluride Colorado.

It was a summer project that spanned several weeks of time.

The kids from the community and I painted the boards white and created a blank canvus to place our dreams upon.

I then drew the scene and outlined it in black. The scene is a girl reading a book under a tree. Her imagination is wide open and book pages are flying out of her head, across the mountain landscape, and into a book at the other end of the mural.

Once the outlines were in place we brought the community together to color in the coloring book that had become the mural.

At the end each child/teen got a page of their own to create whatever imagery inspired them to contribute to the story of the community and the imagination.

May this colorful co-creation bless the library for years to come.

May it be a reminder to nurture our creativity and to make time for imaginary play.

And may it always remind us that we truly do create our own reality...
